“After waiting for about 20 minutes one of my groomsmen leaned over and whispered ‘better luck next year mate’”, relates Pat, right before Trish appeared to kick off their Catholic ceremony – a traditional Latin Mass too. Yet the entire day wasn’t all solemn and ancient rites, there was plenty of old fashioned partying at the picturesque, outdoor reception venue of Redbrow Gardens. “It was really funny seeing some friends and family of ours with big personalities meet and have a ripper of a chat after a few beers”. Blessed with some amazing weather and a splash of beautiful Autumn colours, this Canberra wedding was a cracker. Read on!
THE PROPOSAL
“I wanted to take Trish to a beautiful mountain peak in the national parks behind Canberra. I didn’t think to check the status as the park was open and we found the road/track was closed. We ended up driving around and settled on a nice country walk beside the Tharwa river which is where I did finally get down on one knee.”
THE INSPIRATION
“Garden party. We were thinking Pinterest vibes with fairy lights kiss me by Sixpence None The Richer playing in the background. All in all we wanted a wonderful evening where we could celebrate with our closest family and friends.”
FAVOURITE DETAIL
“The decorations and the lights through the trees and the florals as well as the food. We remember seeing how great the place looked in the evening sunset and how great it lit up at night. It was actually much better than I thought it would be and created a really nice atmosphere. The food was just delicious which always makes things better!”
DIY PROJECTS
“Yes most of the the decorations: flower arranging, stringing up the tea lights in mason jars, flowers on the arches and the signage. We also potted succulents for our wedding favours ourselves. Friends chipped in a lot to help as well as with ideas to make it all.”
