When Newcastle lovebirds & gin afficionados – Julia & Nick – were deciding on a wedding venue, they couldn’t go past one of their favourite spots: Earp Distilling Co. It really ticked all the boxes with its industrial influences and being only a stones throw away from home, it made perfect sense.
Proposal
“Nick proposed on a Saturday morning over our daily coffee in bed (brought to me by Nick as is tradition). After some loving words and some nerves from Nick, he produced a beautiful ring he had designed and asked the question.”
Fav Moment
“Our ceremony and particularly our vows were very central to us both. Standing together (sweating buckets on a very hot day!) and actually doing the thing was incredibly moving and special. Julia was struck by Nick’s handsomeness and dapper look in his suit, whilst Nick remembers Julia looking beautiful and elegant.”
Family Traditions
“It felt special and important to have Nick’s mum do a reading for us at our ceremony. [My] dad surprised everyone present by finishing his speech with a song – the Beatles’ ‘Julia’, which he had sung many times when I was a child. This was a beautiful and moving moment, and felt like an acknowledgment of me moving into a new family and life with Nick.”
Advice For Couples
“Be prepared to put in time and effort to get everything sorted – it is a lot of work! But when the time comes for the wedding day, don’t worry about the details and let things take care of themselves. It is most important to make the most of every moment on the day and anything that goes wrong will just make a good story!”
