The Charm of Beresford Estate: Mandy & Cody’s Big Day

Mandy and Cody’s Beresford Estate wedding in McLaren Vale was a celebration of love, laughter, and effortlessly elegant style. After five years together and a sweet, full-circle proposal that recreated their first date—right down to the ice cream flavours and matching outfits—this dynamic duo set out to plan a wedding that was as classy as it was personal. With breathtaking vineyard views and the relaxed, modern atmosphere they were searching for, Beresford Estate was the perfect backdrop. Mandy, a workplace physiotherapist and SA State Manager, found her dream Kyha gown in Melbourne, while Cody—self-employed electrician and go-kart track owner—suited up in a sharp ivory blazer from Calibre that perfectly matched his personality. Their black and white wedding vision came to life with the help of Instagram-found vendors, heartfelt speeches, and a lot of laughter—including a tipsy bride before entrées and a slightly improvised first dance. From beginning to end, their day was a true reflection of their strong, light-hearted partnership and everything they value in a relationship.

THE DRESS: “It took me about one month to find my dress. My cousin had wedding dress remorse and was looking for a dress 2 years post her wedding and highly recommended Kyha. I happened to have my graduation in Victoria in December and thought why not? And as with finding your partner, the same goes for your dress – you know when you know, it was the one!”

THE PROPOSAL: “Cody recreated our first date. We ordered the same ice cream, wore the same outfits and sat on the same patch of grass and spoke about our relationship over the last 3.5 years and then he got down on one knee!”

THE VENUE: “We saw about 4 different venues. We loved the view at Beresford and it gave us the atmosphere that we were looking for. We also wanted the wedding to be elegant and classy.”

THE MEANING OF MARRIAGE: “Cody and I have always felt strongly about being faithful to each other, having respect for each other, listening to each other and being committed to finding solutions together – we think that’s what a relationship is whether it’s bound by marriage or not!”

  • Adelaide Hills Glen Ewin Estate Wedding

Adelaide Hills Glen Ewin Estate Wedding

“There were two failed attempts but all good things happen in trilogies”, relates Helen about John’s aborted proposal efforts, though it finally led to success along a beach, almost two and half years ago. Packed with an amazing fusion of both Asian & Western elements, this whole day epic kept rolling on and on with fun and laughs. See how it all went down at the picturesque Glen Ewin Estate, nestled in the Adelaide Hills.

THE VENUE: We just wanted something relaxed and fun. The original venue that we had in mind gave our date away and we just happened to have time to visit Glen Ewin Estate and knew it had to be here.

THE DRESS: Dress was made by Dragana, a dressmaker situated in Sunshine, VIC and she was referred by the fabric store D’italia. I think thing wedding dress shopping was probably the worst part of the wedding, it was just difficult and overwhelming. But I think that’s also a personality thing, I don’t normally wear dresses and I don’t think I particularly like the emphasis on how important the wedding dress was, still don’t really get it.

FAV MOMENT: I think the whole day was a blast! We felt like it went really well. Our vendors (Joel you’re definitely included) were all so good, we were so lucky that everyone was available for our date. The venue really looked after us, we had so much fun at the reception. The tea ceremony was a bit chaotic but which family get together isn’t. Our guests were also fabulous! We’re so lucky to be surrounded by such wonderful people.

TIPS FOR OTHERS: Take it one step at the time, use a checklist online to get a rough idea of what to do in which order and when to book vendors. Most importantly, have fun with it all, things always find a way to work out and even if it doesn’t no one will notice or it will just make it more memorable. Really glad we did the father and daughter dance and the first dance.
